Proudly first known to public as Native Voluntary School of Kolapis ( NVS Kolapis) in January 1955 after unremitting application made by the locals to the Colonial Government led by three majority groups of Brunei, Bajau and Tidong of whom OT Hj Majair Kapal, XXX and OT Hj Omar Abu Nawas  were put responsible. The first building was totally constructed    by using local product such as nipah, nibong and  kayu bakau by the villagers in November 1954 which accommodated 30 pupils in their first intake. In April 1963, 4 months before the independence, hence, the government approved  a new school building and two staff quarters of a wooden type  and named as Government Primary School of Kolapis ( GPS Kolapis ).  In 1969, one more new building was approved by the Education Department of Sabah to accomodate unnumbered pupils that  sought education.  Several years after the independence, its name changed to Sekolah Rendah Kerajaan Kolapis ( SRK Kolapis )   to adapt  a  new Malaysian athmorsphere and  as  early as  1980, the  name  was  once again changed to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kolapis  ( SK Kolapis) in accordance to the Ministry of Education directive, nationwide .  After 50 years serving in the heart of its villegers, by then, SK Kolapis is having two new conctered buildings besides its 1969th building, one computer lab, eight staff quarters of which three are fully conctered buildings. Throughtout this Golden Jubilee period, SK Kolapis which had been administered by 18 Head Masters is situated  in two different location of areas of its own . Today, SK Kolapis is proudly entitling one of the only eight Grade A schools and of course, the only three of the so-called colonial left-over schools  in the district of Beluran.
